Check out these fun new designs!
This special plate I painted for my husband, Jerry, who loves whales.
It was inspired by Nil’s rococo Rosemaling. I’m sure there will be
some
controversy over whether it is Rosemaling or not, but, if the
Telemark
painter could combine hunters and bears and rococo Rosemalers
included
some scenes and an occasional house, then there is no reason why one
couldn’t add a ship and a whale.

There is a hint of wood smoke in the air and the trees are beginning to
turn from their summer greens to blazing reds, oranges, and yellows. It
is time to get out your brush and capture these Autumn Hues. |
Little Swedish school girls decorate the tops of these boxes. This
design is small and will adapt easily to many pieces other then the
one
that is shown here.

This contemporary interpretation is meant to become my personal sewing
box. The original tine is from the Husfliden in Bergen. Every
symbol
and figure used is representative of things that I saw on our last
trip
to Norway (1995) in some form of decorative art. The people are a
wedding couple and their family and farm. Each unit is small so that
you can easily adapt this idea to other pieces.

Do you remember picking a small bouquet for someone special? Well,
Posie enjoys this pastime also. Enjoy her bouquets and stylized
floral
display as you paint her to greet someone who needs a special love.

W ebster’s dictionary tells us that razzle-dazzle can mean a colorful
display. Or we might add “a feast of colorful strokes that excite and
delight the eye.” What explanation you favor, this idea is sure to give
you a wonderful painting experience and hours of pleasure, long after
the piece has been painted.
